Well, the facts are in. After use of the MAP as an additional selection step since 1995, our CTDs are down to under 10% (from 25%) of our total injuries and illnesses. We estimate that the reduction of CTDs with their accompanying medical costs and lost time days has saved our company over $2 million each of the last two years. That's not pocket change, even for a Company like ours with 12,000 employees and over $2.3 billion in annual sales.
We know now that the MAP is an integral part of our overall Safety and Health risk management strategy. The use of MAP is also included as an important aspect of our Ergonomics written program due to its ability to help us manage CTDs in the workplace. We have yet to use the full capabilities of the MAP with existing employees to develop more focused CTD prevention plans, but that will be coming soon as well.
In short, your work in developing the MAP has resulted in fewer injuries and illnesses, reduced costs and more productive and satisfied employees at Cessna. In a small but significant way, you are helping us stay the number one manufacturer of general aviation aircraft in the world. We thank you for that!
